Dr. Herscovici moved to Tampa in 1991; joining Florida Orthopaedic Institute after completing a six-month AO European Traveling Fellowship and a one-year trauma fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to his trauma and post-traumatic reconstruction practice, he is a nationally recognized lecturer in the care of diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle. His continued interest in dealing with problems of the foot and ankle resulted in him being granted a three-month Foot and Ankle fellowship, in Cincinnati, Ohio under G. James Sammarco, MD, one of the world’s leading authorities on diseases of the foot and ankle.

Dr Herscovici has actively participated in research, with well over 40 articles and chapters written about the care and advancement of trauma, as well as articles in prominent orthopedic journals, dealing with injuries to the foot and ankle. The most recent entitled the “Operative Treatment of Calcaneal Fractures in Elderly Patients,” published in the June 2005 issue of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

Dr Herscovici’s continued interest in research led him to be selected as the 2005 Martin Allgower Fellow. This prestigious fellowship saw him returning to Europe where he spent six weeks practicing and teaching other orthopaedic surgeons at the Carl Gustav Carus Medical University in Dresden, Germany. His devotion to teaching young doctors in the care of these patients is evident as he was recently awarded the coveted Winquist Cup, voted on by doctors in training as being the best lab course, at the recent 2004 Orthopaedic Trauma Association meeting. These achievements, his knowledge of orthopaedics, and devotion for the care of his patients has led him to be voted by his peers as one of the best orthopaedic surgeons in the Tampa Bay area.
